IE Supports lslamic Relief As Part of 20th
On November 8th, 2013 the deadliest cyclone in history devasted South East Asia killing over 6,000 innocent people within the Phillipines alone. Typhoon Haiyan (or Yolanda as it is known in the Phillipines) created a humanitarian disaster of unrivalled proportions with 1000’s upon 1000’s of people made homeless, without basic food, water or shelter.
We answered an urgent call from Islamic Relief, a charity with Head Quarters in Birmingham, who were looking to fly out within days with urgent materials and assistance in response to the disaster. Like most charities responding, people and their needs always come first but they also had a desire to illustrate the assistance the charity was delivering in humanitarian form, which often was not associated with the charity's work.
We offered a free helping hand and worked to generate a solution that could be packed in a suitcase, implemented cheaply on site and help address the balance of recognition for the excellent work that was being delivered by Islamic Relief.
The street art template we provided was easy to implement on the tents and ensured that the work of the charity was visible to people, support workers and within resulting media coverage featuring their branded tents.
We were delighted to see the results, but even more delighted to see some of the people in need smiling beneath shelter, having received food, water and support.
“On Behalf of Islamic Relief Worldwide, I would like to thank IE Design for your contribution in helping the victims of the Cyclone Haiyan in the Philippines. Your stencils were of high quality and extremely easy to apply.” Mohamed Chahtane - Islamic Relief
